What Should I do

Hi,
Going to start my career this week as an MBA Finance student. Targeting Finance
Or business analyst roles in India & Abroad (FAANG/BIG4) what are the things or skillset to improve ( or to learn) to enter as an entry level or managing level roles.

Quick reality check on FAANG abroad - they almost never hire freshers from India directly (visa + competition). The real path is joining a GCC here (Google, Amazon, Uber all have big teams in Bangalore/Hyderabad) and moving internally later. Aim there first, it's the actual on-ramp.

Ex-Big4 here. "Big4" isn't one thing — figure out if you want audit, consulting, or risk/deals first. For most finance MBAs it's consulting/advisory, and they care more about case-solving and communication than finance trivia. Prep cases + guesstimates, and get a referral. Referrals matter a lot.

Don't collect certifications. Pick one that matches the role. CFA if you want core finance/research (even Level 1 helps). If it's more analyst/data work, skip finance certs and do a SQL or Power BI one instead. One cert you can actually talk about > three half-done ones.

Honestly, before any cert, get your Excel and SQL solid. That's what actually gets tested. If you can build a clean 3-statement model in Excel and write decent SQL joins, you're already ahead of most freshers. Everything else builds on that.
