Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)

What does a CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) actually earn?

Trying to gauge whether chasing the CTP makes financial sense for me. I know it's hard to pin down a single figure, but roughly what does a CTP salary look like versus someone in a similar treasury role without it? Mostly want to understand if the certification meaningfully bumps pay or if it's more about opening doors.

From the hiring side - we don't have a line item that says 'CTP = X more dollars'. But when we're choosing between two candidates for a senior treasury role, the one with the CTP often edges it, and senior roles simply pay more. It's a door-opener and a tiebreaker more than a direct raise lever.

The way I think about it: the CTP doesn't add a fixed dollar amount to your paycheck. It helps you qualify for and get hired into higher tier treasury positions, and those pay more. So the pay bump is indirect. In the US treasury comp is generally solid and scales well with seniority, but numbers vary a lot by region — don't anchor on any single figure you read online.

Honest answer: there's no single CTP salary because it depends massively on your role level, city, industry, and years of experience. A treasury analyst and a treasury director are worlds apart in pay and both can hold a CTP. What I'd say is the cert tends to correlate with the more senior, better-paying treasury roles rather than causing the pay by itself.
