CFA 2027

Been reading that the cfa 2027 curriculum changes lean harder into AI, data science and more practical/applied skills modules. I'm deciding whether to push to finish a level under the current curriculum or just start fresh with the new one. For those who've been through a curriculum transition before — does more 'practical' content actually change your study approach, or is it still the same grind of readings and practice questions?

Honestly the study approach is the same: read, do questions, review mistakes, repeat. The topics evolve, the method doesn't.

For the data science bits — you don't need to become a Python dev. It's conceptual understanding of the workflow and what the models do, framed for investment decisions. General level, per what CFA Institute has published; check their curriculum change notes for the specifics before you assume depth.

The practical skills angle mostly changes the flavour of questions, not the fundamentals. More applied means more 'here's a scenario/dataset, interpret it' rather than pure recall. My tip: get comfortable reading outputs and reasoning about them, not just memorising formulas. That skill transfers whichever version you sit.

Don't overthink the timing. If you're ready to sit soon, sit — chasing or avoiding a curriculum version usually costs you more in delay than the content shift is worth. The core (ethics, quant, FRA, equity, FI) stays the foundation regardless.
