You can study
for months and still lose an FRM exam at the door. GARP’s exam-day rules are
strict and enforced with “no exceptions” — here’s what to get right.
Approved calculators (this
list is exhaustive)
●
Texas Instruments BA II Plus and BA II Plus
Professional
●
Hewlett-Packard HP 12C (including Platinum, Platinum
25th Anniversary, 30th Anniversary, and Prestige)
●
HP 10BII, HP 10BII+, and HP 20B
Bring any other
model and your exam won’t be graded. Bring a spare approved calculator and
fresh batteries — you can’t borrow one.
Identification — exactly
what’s required
●
An original, valid, non-expired government photo ID: a
passport or driver’s license (digital IDs are not accepted; a driver’s license
must be from the country of your exam site).
●
Your printed Confirmation of Appointment email.
●
The name must match exactly across your ID and
registration.
Where you
now sit: the FRM is delivered by PSI, except in Mainland China, Hong Kong
SAR and Thailand, where it’s delivered by ATA — not Pearson VUE. Double-check
which provider’s site you’re booked at.
Mistakes that quietly cost
candidates
●
Showing up with an unapproved or expired ID.
●
Forgetting the printed confirmation.
●
A name mismatch (e.g., ID shows a full middle name,
registration doesn’t).
●
No-shows and late arrivals — you forfeit the fee, and
you can only reschedule once, within the same window.
Treat exam-day logistics like part of the syllabus. A 20-minute checklist the week before protects months of prep.
