Chartered Accountancy (CA)
India's most respected qualification in accounting and finance
Chartered Accountancy (CA)
Globally Recognised · Self-Paced
The Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is one of the most respected professional certifications in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management. Designed for students and aspiring finance professionals, the CA program provides comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting, corporate law, taxation, auditing standards, and business strategy.
The CA course typically consists of multiple examination levels that combine theoretical learning with practical training, helping candidates develop strong analytical, technical, and professional skills. Through a structured curriculum and rigorous examinations, the program prepares individuals to handle complex financial matters, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial advice to organizations.
A Chartered Accountant can pursue diverse career opportunities in areas such as public accounting, corporate finance, auditing, taxation, consulting, and financial advisory. Professionals holding the CA qualification are highly valued by accounting firms, multinational corporations, financial institutions, and government organizations.
At Professional Career Club, we provide CA course guidance, study strategies, and community discussions to help students better understand the qualification and support their journey toward becoming a successful accounting professional.

CA 2027 exam dates and attempts
ICAI has confirmed which months each level is examined in during 2027, but has not yet released the exact exam dates or the application windows.
- CA Foundation — three attempts a year; January 2027 is the next named attempt
- CA Intermediate — three attempts a year; May 2027, September 2027 and January 2028
- CA Final — two attempts a year; May 2027 and November 2027
CA Final moved to two sittings a year, in May and November, with effect from the May 2026 examination. The three-sittings-a-year pattern of January, May and September applies to CA Intermediate, not to CA Final.
CA 2027 exam fees and registration deadlines
Not yet published: ICAI has not released the 2027 examination fee schedule or the application deadlines. Both are announced alongside each attempt’s application notification.
What changes for CA candidates in 2027
The Income-tax Act, 2025 replaces the Income-tax Act, 1961 in the syllabus. The switchover dates are:
- CA Intermediate Paper 3A — from the May 2027 examination
- CA Final Paper 4 — from the May 2027 examination
- Self-Paced Online Module Set C Paper 5 — from 1 May 2027
If you are sitting an attempt before May 2027, you are still examined on the Income-tax Act, 1961. Buying updated material early is only useful if your attempt falls on or after the dates above.

Everything you need to know
Why should you pursue CA?
The CA qualification is the most prestigious accounting and
finance credential in India and commands deep respect across South Asia, the
Middle East, and Commonwealth markets. It is more than an accounting
qualification — it is a full-spectrum finance education covering taxation,
audit, law, financial reporting, and strategic finance.
•
The only qualification legally required to sign
statutory audit reports in India — making CAs irreplaceable in corporate
governance.
•
Extraordinary return on investment: the qualification
costs a fraction of an MBA yet opens CFO-level and Big Four career doors.
•
Articleship provides real-world experience inside CA
firms, corporates, and Big Four before you even qualify — giving you a 2-3 year
head start on your peers.
•
No upper age limit means career changers can pursue CA
at any stage.
•
Opens entrepreneurship as a direct path — a CA licence
is a business in itself; you can set up independent practice from day one.
•
Globally transferable: many countries (UK, UAE, Canada,
Australia) have mutual recognition agreements with ICAI for fast-track
pathways.
•
ACCA awards up to 9 exemptions to qualified CAs, making
dual qualification achievable in 12–18 months.

What are the rules for rescheduling CA?
•
CA exams are conducted on fixed dates nationally —
there is no individual exam appointment to reschedule like in CBT-based exams.
•
If you miss an exam, you must re-apply for the next
available exam window and pay the exam form fee again.
•
ICAI allows a student to skip an attempt — you do not
lose your registration by not appearing.
•
Registration is valid for a fixed period (currently 5
years for Intermediate; 10 years for Final under new scheme — check SSP for
your specific case).

What does it mean to be a Certified CA?
A Chartered Accountant in India is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The designation is conferred by ICAI, and membership — not simply passing the exams — is what carries the professional rights that come with it.
The route runs through three examination levels with structured training alongside them: CA Foundation, CA Intermediate, and CA Final, together with the practical training (articleship) and the ICITSS and AICITSS courses that ICAI requires.
The bar is genuinely high. In the May 2026 CA Final examination ICAI reported that of 87,497 candidates across 544 centres, 12% cleared Group I, 20.49% cleared Group II, and 14.07% cleared both groups in the same attempt. That last figure is the one usually quoted, and it is worth reading carefully: it measures clearing both groups together, not the chance of passing the CA Final overall.
Requirements and eligibility are set by ICAI and change from time to time, so confirm current rules on icai.org before planning a registration or attempt.
